Fourth Annual Summer Intern Event

Today I asked off work for the Fourth Annual Summer Intern Event with U.S. Senator Barrack Obama and NBC's Tim Russert. The event took place at the Warner Theatre; the entire room was packed with interns from all over the nation. It was a town hall meeting on Making A Difference Through Public Service.
Following the meeting was a career fair that consisted of U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of State, National Aeronautics and Space administration, U.S. Social Security Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Smithsonian, and Congressional Budget Office, to name a few.
Just a Few Interesting Facts:
* More than 50,000 federal employees work abroad.
* Only 16% of government employees work in DC area.
*Half of the nation's 1.9 million federal employees may be eligible to retire in the next five years-meaning that's a lot of job openings.
